How reporting court-ordered rent arrears works
From your tribunal order to Equifax and TransUnion: the three steps, the documents you need and what happens after you submit court-ordered rent arrears.
Before you start
You need a final order from a Canadian court or provincial tenancy tribunal confirming unpaid rent. StrikeLM cannot help you get that order; the tribunal process in your province comes first.
You also need a document showing you are the landlord or authorized property representative, such as the lease or proof of property ownership.
Step 1: Tell us about the order
The intake is a short guided conversation. You upload the order as a PDF and confirm the key details: the order number, the amount, the date and the tenant named in it.
If something in the order does not fit credit reporting requirements, you find out before paying.
Step 2: Verify and pay
You upload proof of your role as landlord and pay the one-time $99 CAD submission fee through Stripe. CollectorPro and CollectorPro+ are optional add-ons.
Step 3: Submission to both bureaus
Eligible claims are submitted to Equifax Canada and TransUnion Canada within 24 hours of payment. You receive an email confirmation once submitted.
Each bureau controls its own review timing. Arrears may appear on the tenant's credit report within 30 days, and the two entries may not appear at the same moment.
If the tenant pays
Reply to your confirmation email as soon as you are paid. The update is reviewed and the credit bureaus are notified as appropriate. No extra form is needed.
